We have low-radiation x-ray machines that take Tomographic x-rays, Transcranial x-rays, Lateral Skull, Frontal Skull, Submentovertex, and panoramic x-rays.
Pharyngometer/Rhinometer
Part of our suite of diagnostic equipment called the Eccovision, it's a self contained processor emitting sound waves through two tools: the rhinometer and the pharyngometer. Our office is one of the very few in the entire state of Illinois with this test. The Pharyngometer is used to map the cross-sectional diameter of the oral airway and measure its stability. It measures the approximate size of the airway, the minimum or constriction point, it measures the oxygen intake, the oxygen maintenance and the overall stability of the airway. This allow the dentist to discover existing points of obstruction as well as your optimal breathing position. It is instrumental in determining you eligibility regarding successful oral appliance therapy. The Rhinometer test is performed to check the nasal passages. This tool helps to rule out any obstruction or enlargement in the turbinates as the cause of your sleep disordered breathing problem. If an obstruction or enlargement is discovered, your dentist will refer you to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist.
